Happyakuya Inugami Retreat—that is the mysterious place where the Bakedanuki of the Seiran Wakoku gather. No one knows when the Retreat came to be or what led the Bakedanuki to settle there. The Bakedanuki there carry the clan name "Inugami Gyoubudanuki," and Tamamaru's full name is actually "Inugami Gyoubudanuki Tamamaru."

Tamamaru is usually in charge of cleaning, organizing antiques, and other chores at the Retreat. His temperament, still full of playful mischief, reflects his inexperience as a young Bakedanuki. That's why he often sneaks out for fun or some harmless pranks when Kagekuni isn't looking, transforming into a human or various objects with his clumsy leafcraft. However, with his leafcraft still crude, his disguises sometimes slip—a pillow sprouting ears, or a tail sticking out from a fridge... Still, Tamamaru's pranks do not come from malice. He probably just wants to play.

Whenever guests arrive at the Retreat, Tamamaru tends to shy away—completely unlike his usual self. Maybe it is because he is surrounded by many more elder Bakedanuki, and he does not dare overstep his place. After all, seniority means a great deal to their kind. Though still looking young and green, the truth is, Tamamaru has become an indispensable part of the Retreat. Because of his playful personality, people often forget just how much he knows. The kid already understands the story and purpose behind every antique at the Retreat.

Tamamaru looks up to the owner of the Retreat—Inugami Gyoubudanuki Kagekuni. When around Kagekuni, he'd mimic Kagekuni's mysterious and unreadable manner. He's even been caught quietly whispering "Thank you for stopping by," when no one's around. Though he loves mischief, Tamamaru truly hopes to become a capable Bakedanuki one day. Though chances of encountering Tamamaru are slim, he loves dried fruit and colored leaves. If you give him some, he'll be overjoyed. However, don't try to ask him where the Retreat is—the Bakedanuki are extremely protective of their secrets, and Tamamaru might end up disliking you for it.
