Watanabe Hitoha is a lingering spirit who haunts a certain stretch of seaside in Seiran Wakoku. He has a powerful build that does not match his gloomy looks, and he is usually found alone, sitting on the coastal reefs and fishing. He doesn't like dealing with people, so he stays invisible most of the time. But whenever he sees someone in danger, he cannot help but reveal himself to save them. He always complains that it is a hassle, yet he still uses his impressive physical strength to help solve all sorts of problems people run into by the sea. Over time, he becomes known among the nearby residents as a friendly ghost.
While he was alive, Watanabe Hitoha had a treasured squid-shaped fleshlight he named Twerky, and he carried it with him wherever he went. During one sea fishing trip, he accidentally turned it on, and Twerky slipped from his hands and fell into the ocean.Heartbroken, Watanabe Hitoha searched the sea for seven days without rest. In the end, his strength gave out, and he gradually lost consciousness amid the waves... After his death, his powerful obsession turned him into a lingering spirit drifting along the shore, endlessly fishing while waiting for the day Twerky might finally be reeled back up.
Although Watanabe Hitoha's fishing skills are exceptional, for some reason he keeps catching pieces of artificial drift trash after losing Twerky. Things like defective fleshlights or used silicone dolls... Even though none of them look anything like Twerky, every time he reels one up, Watanabe Hitoha would still mistake it for the one he longs for, if only for a fleeting moment.
While he was alive, Watanabe Hitoha loved traveling almost as much as he loved fishing. Although he did not enjoy dealing with people, the landscapes he remembered from his journeys always included those figures who greeted him with gentle smiles. After becoming a lingering spirit, Watanabe Hitoha tried many times to leave, but every attempt ended in failure. Eventually, the passing years wore down his resolve, leaving him with nothing but the endless tide and memories of the life he once had. How much longer would it take before his stagnant, lifeless time could stir again with a long-forgotten ripple?
